FAITH-BASED PRISON IN FLA. IS CALLED FIRST OF ITS KIND
Philadelphia Inquirer Dec. 26, 2003
The other Bush, Governor Jeb Bush, has dedicated what may be the nation's first faith-based prison. He told inmates, "I can't think of a better place to reflect on the awesome love of our Lord Jesus than to be here at Lawtey Correctional Institute" I'll bet the inmates can.
At this prison, inmates have the benefit of religious studies, prayer sessions, and other spiritual activities seven days a week.
It's easy to picture the gleam in the eye of President Bush as he contemplates the possible opportunities for more religious intrusion by the government. He can continue his faith initiatives with:
Faith-based Federal prisons (except for Muslims)
Faith-based Federal hospitals
No abortions, no matter what
No use of medications based on any stem cell research
No right-to-die, unless approved by Attorney General John Ashcroft
No use of possibly addictive drugs for pain of terminally ill.
Faith-based Army units
Taking Lord's name in vain punishable by dishonorable discharge
Choir practice mandatory
Hymns will be chanted during marching drills
Faith-based school lunch programs
Rewards offered for the best Grace prayers
The list is endless. And to be feared.
