DEMOCRATS PLANNING DIFFERENT CAMPAIGN STYLE

At a press conference yesterday afternoon, White House press spokesman Robert Gibbs
unveiled plans to project a new formality in Democratic campaigns for office.

He noted complaints that shirtsleeves in the oval office had lowered the dignity of the presidency. Surveys had shown that, with the internet, web-based activities could replace constant appearances and mingling with voters. In addition to lower campaign cost, there would be fewer disruptions of the public in places such as diners, factory gates, and malls. Gibbs added that voters wanted to respect and look up to public officials and that a sense of remoteness was a key to victory.

Asked about Martha Coakley, Gibbs replied that she was just too engaged and engaging to use this campaign strategy effectively.
