BEAUTY AND THE LEADER

My daughters may kill me for posting these somewhat sexist observations.

Without, as usual, doing any research, it occurs to me that beauty queens rarely become leaders of their nation. The most famous, and effective, leader of her country was Cleopatra, who was certainly no beauty. A list of other female leaders includes these ladies who , while not unattractive, are known more for their skills and intelligence than for their looks: Golda Meir, Indira Gandhi, Margaret Thatcher, and Andrea Merkel. Among the few exceptions could be BenazirBhutto and Aung San Suu Kyi (although never Burma's leader did win the election but was arrested and denied the right to be Prime Minister),

I mention this apparent phenomenon at this time because we now have here a number of quite attractive female politicians who could become Presidential candidates. I won't list their names because they are all Republicans.
