I have been tempted to suggest that Mitt Romney be appointed Secretary of Commerce in the new Obama administration. After all, he says that he is bipartisan and knows business well enough to create the jobs that our economy needs. And I long considered him a straight shooting, very capable, and honest person.

But, the qualms. I could overlook his failure to support the Lily Ledbetter law or Sandra Fluke against the Rush Limbough slurs and his views (changeable) on such issues as immigration, choice, and climate change. But I find it difficult to overlook character when he permitted false assertions on work and welfare and outsourcing of Jeep manufacturing jobs. Also, he had his national convention held under the banner of "We Built It" a deliberate misinterpretation of words in a speech by President Obama.
