House Votes Against Raising Debt Ceiling

This is what the debt ceiling vote should be - straight up, just on this issue. But many Democrats joined the Republicans in voting no on raising the ceiling without spending cuts. Don't these Democrats know that the debt ceiling should not be held hostage for the cuts that Republicans want to make?

The ceiling was raised often and automatically over the past decade. To vote against this raise shows that these Democrats are afraid and timid, being unwilling to work to convince their constituents of the proper approach to the debt ceiling issue.
