HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY!

We were fold that Columbus discovered America. Sounds good but a bit of a stretch since Columbus first landed in the Bahamas and never set foot in the U.S., our "America". Better to say he discovered the Americas. Or the "New World", since the America name came later.

And not really a discovery, which took place centuries earlier by the indigenous peoples It was really a first European "awareness" of these lands.
