Federal Appeals Court Declares Prop 8 Unconstitutional
A good decision. For years, I have been contending that the state should not be involved with "marriage", should only sanction civil unions. "Marriage" should be left to the parties and churches. Now, I realize that there is another way to look at the issue. When states sanction marriage, there is nothing sacred or spiritual about it. There is only a bundle of rights, privileges, and duties determined by the state. Therefore, there is no valid reason to deny this status to anyone based on sex.
Come on. This is a former law professor who has made life or death decisions for our military and for Osama Bin Laden.
