Thank You / You're Welcome

What  is it about radio and television that makes people forget how to respond to "Thank You"? Time and time again a host thanks the guest or a remote colleague and the response is " thank you " or something like "sure", "OK", or " my pleasure".

Very annoying. Why not the appropriate "You"re Welcome"?
