BAD NEWS WEEK

Tragic bombings in Israel and Iraq are sad reminders that the Bush administration has led us into a senseless invasion and occupation of a foreign nation. The Bush neocoms promised us a welcoming populace and movement toward democracy and peace in the Middle East. These promises are proving as worthless as the flimsy reasons given for unilateral action by the U.S.

Bush proposes to let the power plants of his energy friends slide past the rules of the Clean Air Act.

The Chief Justice of Alabama's Supreme Court refuses to obey the law.

Noting probable Congressional opposition, Bush makes a recess appointment of the anti-Islam zealot, Daniel Pipes, as a Board member of the Institute of Peace.

The recall election in California is proceeding forward.

Better luck next week.
