The 2016 word of the year is "post-truth"
I predict that for 2017 it will be "alternative-facts"

Trump to UN: No Abortions, or Else

BY Noah Shachtman, Erin Gloria Ryan, and Asawin Suebsaeng
A new draft order, circulating on the eve of a pro-life march in Washington, could dramatically cut back family planning funding at the UN—and risk the lives of thousands of women.

life march

"Vice President Mike Pence to join the anti-abortion March for Life and speak at rally"

Scary prospect of VP marching to take away women's rights.  A stark reminder of lost opportunity for all those women who failed to show up and vote for Hillary.

2020

I am now announcing publicly my support (as if anyone should care) of NY Mayor Bill de Blasio  for the Democratic presidential candidacy in 2020. He has a good life story, a good record as mayor, and an engaging personality. He is an excellent speaker, has a good grasp of significant issues, and, importantly, is not part of the Washington establishment.
If he has interest in running, he needs to get a bit national, doing such things as helping Democratic candidates in 2018.

And he is tall.

america first

Mr Trump, in his inauguration speech and often during his campaign used the term "America First" to describe his governing principle. Well, I'm old enough to have witnessed the America First movement of the 1930s and so cringe every time I hear those words. Bolstered by speakers such as Father Coughlin and Lindbergh, it was isolationist, anti-Semitic, pro-Nazi. Very distasteful.

press briefing

As many have noted, it is indeed strange that the first WH press briefing was devoted to attacking the press. The new, highly unlikable press secretary spouted the Trump claim that his inauguration was the most attended of all time, despite clear evidence to the contrary. The despicable press was lying and would be held accountable.

Apparently, this new administration will continue to be unhampered by the facts.

rallies

As noted before, the turnout for the anti-Trump women's marches across the country was huge, unprecedented.  Hillary has to be thinking "Where were these people when I needed them?"

anti Trump rallies

Spectacular, inspiring, huge, overwhelming,  just a few words to describe the anti-Trump women's marches in Washington, D.C. and in cities  all over the globe, on every continent. Women, men, children crowded the streets of Melbourne, Paris, London, New York and many other US cities. Heartwarming that so many people marched to support our values.
