DOUBLE STANDARD
It's no secret that politicians use a double standard in judging action or positions of their respective parties or party members. However, the Republicans' expressed outrage and accusations regarding former Clinton advisor Sandy Berger reach a new plateau of hypocrisy. Here, we have a dedicated public servant who, in researching for testimony before the 9/11 Commission, somehow, presumably by mistake, took some copies of classified material from government archives.
Republicans warn of dire attempts to hide mistakes of the Clinton administration with respect to terrorism. Hide? These were COPIES of the documents. The originals are safe in the archives available for inspection at any time.
Nowhere do we hear similar outrage and warnings regarding the Los Alamos Lab, which loses or misplaces more classified material than these every day.
