Turning a Blind Eye

Turning a Blind Eye

For years, I have been complaining about the failure of the Justice Department and others to launch strong investigations and legal efforts to prove, through e-mails and other evidence,  the motivations and conspiracy to suppress voting. Let me turn now to the judiciary.

Just as justice has seemed to turn a blind eye to the phony justifications for voter ID laws, it has failed to stop the indefensible obstacles placed in the path of women who need abortions. These include medically unnecessary ultrasounds, health warnings, and requiring health clinics for women to meet surgical standards and have physicians admitted to local hospitals.

Now, I know that some judges are highly political and some will let a personal bias unduly influence decisions. But I like to assume that most members of our judiciary impartially seek to mete out just decisions. That being the case, it should take just a bit of credible medical evidence to strike down these laws.

Addendum:    In a case permitting use of Texas ID law, pending appeals    "Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg issued a six-page dissent. 'The prospect of enforcing a purposefully discriminatory law, one that likely imposes an unconstitutional poll tax and risks denying the right to vote to hundreds of thousands of eligible voters,' she wrote, undermines 'public confidence in elections.'  "

Iraq

ISIS Is Just Outside Of Baghdad

Guess we'll just have to invade Iraq again.
