EXCUSES

We are indeed fortunate in these times to have leaders who provide comfort and guidance when we might otherwise be depressed at our shortcomings.

At School -

I would have wished to pass that course but I came to school with the brains that I have and not the brains I wish I had.

I know that I should not have thrown that book at the teacher but I had to come to class with the disposition I have and not that I would like to have.

At Home -

I know that I should have remembered to turned off the water running in the basement before leaving for vacation but I have to go on vacation with the memory that I have and not the memory I would wish to have.

It is deeply regretted that my pit bull injured your poodle but, unfortunately, I
had to come to the park with the dog I have and not the dog I might wish to have.

In Sports -

I'm sorry, coach, that I let that wide receiver beat me for the winning touchdown, but I had to come to the game with the speed that I have and not the speed I would wish to have.

It is embarrassing to have run the wrong way and given the opponent a touchdown, but I had to go to this game with the sense of direction I have and not that I would like to have.

At Work -

I'm sorry, boss, that our workteam caused our company computer to crash and lose all data, but, as you know, you have to go to work with the skills you have and not those you might wish to have.

I regret the sexual harassment lawsuit against the company, but, unfortunately, I have to go to the workplace with the tendencies I have and not those I would wish to have.
